We analyzed online conversations around Diwali from the past week to identify key trends among well-wishes from Gen Z, Millennial, and Gen X users. Social media listening helps us better identify what different target groups might prefer.

GEN Z: MUSIC

Almost a third of mentions for “Diwali” came from users aged 18-24, 17.5% of whom are students. “#Festivemelody” and “#diwalisong” are trending within the Gen Z conversation, indicating that music is of particular importance to these users.

MILLENNIALS: FAMILY

Millennial mentions contribute to over 50% of all results. Our research revealed Family and Parenting are a top interest among this group. This is reflected on social media listening with both ‘friends’ and ‘families’ among key themes within the conversation, as many cite having celebrated with their nearest and dearest.

GEN X: OPTIMISM

Whilst the two younger generations are certainly more vocal when it comes to well-wishing, Gen X mentions make up around 15% of the conversation. Though family is also a top priority for this group, key themes of ‘peace’ and ‘prosperity’ indicate this group celebrates most with optimism for the future.
